The shadows lengthen, darkness falls,
Echoing through fragmented walls.
I pray to God, what breaks the span
That links one human heart to man?
We long for bridges, not the deep
Divides where bitter secrets sleep.
I build no barriers of stone,
But seek connection, clearly shown.
Let children reach across the line,
Their innocent friendships intertwine.
Let mothers offer open arms,
Sheltering all from life's alarms.
Let fathers build with steady hand,
Uniting people across the strand.
I ask you, Lord, to guide our sight,
To build these bridges strong and bright,
Of understanding, trust, and grace,
In every corner of this place.
Mend the fissures, heal the breaks,
You are the power that undertakes
All things. It's you, my Lord, who can,
Unite the scattered race of man.
Inspire us to reach out and mend,
The broken ties, until the end.
Demolish walls of prejudice and fear,
Let open pathways now be clear.
Help us, Lord, to see the way,
To usher in a brighter day.
Destroy the chasms that remain,
Let unity and love attain
Their rightful place. You Almighty One,
Let bridges of pure light be spun.
