Bridges Burned

Love Story

By Katrina ThornleyPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

The cracks existed

To trip us

In our motion forward,

Stopping our propelling,

We paused

Questions spewed,

Stopping just short of lips

Swallowed to create acid

Bile beneath the surface

Bubbling, waiting

Eruptions form

When pressure builds,

Allowed to wander

Unhindered-

Seeking escape

That destroys bridges built

In better weather.

The winds change

And bring about

Peaceful bird song

And new blooms

That we save

In vases even after

They have withered.
