Breaking the Chains: A Poem on Overcoming Addiction
"Struggling with the Thief of Joy"
Addictions, a silent thief, creeps
Into our lives, with barely a peep.
It starts innocently, just a taste,
But soon, it takes over, and won't let go of its grasp.
It takes hold, a stranglehold on the mind,
And leaves us feeling helpless, and confined.
It dictates our every move and thought,
And what once was a pleasure, becomes our final route.
We try to resist, to fight back the tide,
But it's too late, we're already inside.
As prisoners of our own choices, we can't break free,
From the cravings that rule our lives completely.
The road to recovery is long and tough,
But with strength, courage, and support, it can be enough.
To reclaim what was lost, to live life once more,
And break the chains that addiction had in store.
So let us not surrender, to this enemy,
For the fight is worth it, for our liberty.
To overcome the hold, to find our way,
And live a life of joy, each and every day.
