Boxed In
Kind of safe and cozy, yet..
Boxed In
Pokey, un-spacious and lacking general essentials,
And although comfortable to a degree,
Kind of safe and cozy,
Yet to be constrained and confined,
Unable to penetrate the outside world -
Surely unethical, but, at once,
Resigned to the constraints,
Wholly complicit, and yet,
Desperate to escape.
Slipping, occasionally into unconsciousness, or
At times, a disassociation of the mind and body,
Just TOO much pressure.
And now, a CHOICE,
To fill in the cracks?
Or to colour in outside the lines?!
Desperate to find my kind,
Yes, it’s outside I hear my heart call,
Beckoning me to leave,
If I leave I’m unable to ever return,
But evolve to grow?
No desire to go back?
Now, for all that I lack,
I must stay shackled here,
My resolve weakened yet again,
Destined to live,
In between worlds..

Hey, I read it again. Very apt, fitting it in here. Identity indeed.
So many messages in between the lines in this poem. Decisions to be made, changes to be made. I imagine they got made for here you are. Fly like the eagle...a song of freedom. Sorry, I too get carried away.
