Boogers, Consequence and Mourning

of all the things that spring to an open mind...

By BrenPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

there was an accident

in your driveway

one of your many kids

got eaten

by the green bin truck

it's ok you said

i'm still reeling from that

but you kept going...

it's ok it's ok

you said more than once

how in any scenario

deranged or otherwise

is that just ok?

act of god?

a recycling accident?

mother nature wanted something warm?

you kept going...

despite

the youngin was doing what he loved

what?

picking his nose in the green bin?

playing hide and seek?

he won that round

but still your shallow

callousness

your empty headed

checks and balances

your only concern

was not none of his plastic buttons

fell off in the bin

the council

dislikes contaminants

you

Ah, and I love those watercolour images you used in many of your poems. They remind me of postcards or illustrations in children's books - I always cherished them as a child and still do.

A little gem that shines no less than the others.
