How long can you stay awake

If you fall asleep,

you will be replaced,

to become one of us,

part of a new race.

If you look, we are working

to move truckloads of pods;

around you we are lurking,

very busy at our new jobs.

How long can you stay awake?

So heavy your eyelids get.

Your focus a sidetrack it takes,

into dreamland you must not slip.

Just like your friend, we look,

But you can tell we are subverted.

The original we have took,

Their body is now deserted.

We will procreate, street to street,

to which house have we spread?

How will you defeat

a foe that’s in your neighbor’s head?
