She looks over at the girl,
Poised like a work of art,
All her curves in the right places,
Perfect from the very start.
Long legs, flat stomach, clear skin,
She looks down and says to herself,
“Why can’t you be that thin.”
She touches her arms and whimpers,
Then swears to never give in,
To the rules she created in her head,
Avoid food, you’re fat, be thin.
Time passed and the girl lost weight,
She thought she would feel much better,
But the voices became louder in her head,
“Don’t give yourself the flatter.”
She looked at the perfect girl with envy,
“Why can’t I be more like her?”
But little did that one girl know,
The perfect girl was in the mirror.
