Blue Thoughts

a poem

My supposed charm distorted your perception,

Everything you witnessed was her,

Her deceitful lies and cheating, as she pursued her own path,

Not even remotely aligned with yours.

You witnessed it and promptly released

All your blue thoughts from their wounded origin

Because you were aware of the pain it caused

Then you roamed this world with no direction.

Before you met me,

You had already learned to suffer in your head

And then, things changed when this comparison with her began.

You learned how to avoid the pain, just as she did,

Protecting yourself from being hurt again

You harmed me deeply

Before anything could even begin.

You aimed this poisoned arrow directly at my heart,

There was no trace of love, only mercilessness,

Surprisingly, it was merely pity that you felt for me

And we rode on it for such a long time,

Continuously hurting each other, until

I finally severed the last thread

You had pulled it too tightly,

Leaving no opportunity to mend it.
