Blue
A poem of agony divine

Winter’s frozen air strikes my face as the bus door opens
I step into city's perfume
Brakes, cigarettes, cinnamon rolls and coffee fill the ethers touching concrete towers
Shoes click-clack between sidewalk cracks, adding another harmonious melody in this bustling symphony
My feet stop at Costa Rican caffeine dreams’ patron site
The back of a tall man stands before me
Golden hues from sun’s rays glisten on combed blonde strands revealing the same perfection as wool coat threads define broad shoulders
Turning, his gaze finds mine
Ocean blue eyes pull like waves beckoned to sea after lapping on sandy shores
I am weightless, sinking, tied to a dropping anchor; descending through the depths of his eyes
Breath halts in my throat
Delicious, pink lips begin to part, stirring this timeless space of nothing-filled-with-everything
“Hi”
Sweet tea and aged whiskey
Warmth washes down my spine as if I’ve taken a sip from him
Desire moves through me, rising from the depths of my being and pushing with it a simple “hello” out of my mouth
He gifts a smile
I breathe; oh yes, breath, I have forgotten you!
He moves; a gentle confidence grabs the handle
I want to be in his grasp; I want him to hold me, feel me as our toes tangle from sunrise to moonset
Does he know that I am the sun that can warm his waters?
Does he know that I can make the wind that will move his waters to shore?
Unanswered questions suffocate my breath
I want to flail my arms and scream for him to rescue me from drowning in this sea of unknown
With another step, I enter. Hopeful that I am walking, wading into more,
Time ,
Timeless eternity,
More of his ocean,
And the divine agony of drowning fully alive

Pieces of Me ~ Poems by Heidi
In 2022, I came across a bin of my journals spanning many years. It was then that I realized I haven’t told people I enjoy writing or shared my work publicly. I decided to start.
