Blue Can't Get Me Down
poetry submission for Moleskin's Color is Pride: True Colors

From this lifting liberation I feel loss
Like a crater taking place here
Emanating endless space here
Yet this caverns not long empty as I fill it up with breath
And the groove that starts to move from
The beating of my breast
Because Blue can’t get me down.
I heal teal
Glow indigo
Aspire to find the sapphire in my tears as
I let them flow
Like midnight waterfalls raining sky blue
Open the floodgates
Make way for the true!
To rule within like cerulean
Let it begin to seep into my skin:
I am royal
& navy
& robins egg blue
I am cyan
& baby
& cornflower too
I twinkle like periwinkle and I shimmer like the sea
I sing the violet song of sirens in the tone of aquamarine
And when I rise
Unto the sky
I return as rain
For the water holds the honor as the blue blood in my veins
Oh the water holds the honor as the blue blood in my veins
Yes, the water holds the honor as the blue blood in my veins
And Blue can’t get me down
