Poem by Gabbie Sigmon

Using a website to write in feels so very foreign to me. I remember my first journals. I had a password journal that could never recognize my voice. To this day, I still feel the same about technology. Frustrated and confused as to how it is supposed to be "advanced".

"I love the days that we live in. 2021. Where we grew up hearing our parents talk about how they would get their tape recorder ready to record a new song coming out on the radio. Now we say, "OO King Princess has a new release, let's listen to that." As we climb into our car, tap the new song on our smart phone, and connect to Bluetooth. Able to replay the song instantly if we want to. And how I think about my mom, in the 80's ,recording that new song on the family tape recorder. And how far we've come. And how she's stayed the same, and we've evolved to this, no questions asked. And how I forgot my journal at home, but I downloaded this app a few months ago that I can journal in on my phone, and the feelings don't translate the same here, and I'd kill to go back in time to grab my journal while walking out the door."

About the Creator

Gabbie Sigmon

I can't figure out what my own name is. I woke up one day and didn't realize who I was. I got lost in translation between the version that everyone else created.
