How'd you get here on the fly?
I know that you're from outer space,
because you look quite out-of-place.

Since you're new here, I'll favor you
You pro'lly don't know that the sky is blue.
What do you know? Can I teach you something?
It's a little thing humans have called blocking.

We have computers, and we have phones
Just so that we don't hafta leave our homes.
We have texts and long emails
We used to have postboxes, but heck, those failed.

You see, little alien, after a while
Humans made each other pretty beguiled.
And so they invented a way to keep
Silence on their phones, preventing any peeps.

Blocking is when someone gets annoyed
And their communication is completely destroyed.
Blocking prevents people from talking to you--
all their desp'rate messages never go through.
--
Alien, I was blocked by my very best friend
And I thought, "Oh well, this is the end."
But now that you've arrived, my world has changed.
I think I can get back in the game.

Alien, I'll give you a spare phone
Just in case you need to call home.
And I've tried to teach you enough
So don't go around blocking people and stuff!

**HEY! A RHYMING POEM!!!**
I tried my best for this entry into the Challenge. Honestly, I just couldn't help myself with this one! Blocking is something that aliens have to know about if they come to our planet! They have to know not to do it! And this is my chance to tell the little alien to not block me while I still have the chance.

in my dreams, I have a daughter. she has my smile, warm and stretching across her cheeks like it will burst. she has her father’s eyes—soft and gentle—and his laugh. she is perfect. I give her a beautiful name, and she is everything I wish for her to be. she is curious, always asks questions and tries new things and lives without my fear of failure; she is generous, never selfish, but builds firm boundaries; she shows kindness to each soul she meets. I teach her everything my parents taught me. she learns how to read, to escape into a story and to write her own. she learns how to proof a loaf of bread, how to cut butter into flour and dust berries in flour before adding them to batter. she learns how to love, how to be loved. her life is beautiful, free from worry and filled with joy.

Love the social and interpersonal take you took with this one.
I don't know how to feel about this, on the one you actually executed the rhyme quite well, so I should be happy. But on the other hand, for someone who has gotten to know you through your noble fight against rhyme, I can't help but see this as a complete selling-out... Just kidding, really fun and I'm glad you decided to try it out again. Good subject for an Outsider to learn about.
Ahhhh, the greatest invention of the internet! Have you seen that episode of Black Mirror where people could get blocked in real life? (White Christmas I think.)
Oh yes they need to know about blocking. I mean, blocking a creepy stalker or a rude bully is okay but not innocent people. Loved your poem!
