Blind Date

How'd It Go?

Perhaps I’m better off on my own

That is not what I want

Rushing away from unpleasant possibilities

I walk through the door alone

Hoping I’m not too late

Pulling out my chair

While you're sitting there

Trying not to be noticeably unnerved

“It’s nice to get to meet you”

I say a few words

I'm incredibly uncomfortable

You don't seem to notice

The conversation somehow just keeps going

To my amazement

I begin to wonder what could come next

I didn’t realize I could feel this way until now.

It’s terrifying

You’re different from anyone I’ve ever met

You defy the laws of nature

I am in awe of you.

Your laugh is ridiculous

Truth be told

that's what others might say but

I think your laugh is beautiful

When you speak

I listen in a daze

You’ve altered the course of my life

Over a short cafe lunch

Who knew I could feel so strongly about someone

The expectations have been proven wrong

Before long, I know

You are amazing, kind, and wonderful.

My friends said,

I will love you

Are they right?

I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.

Perhaps, finally, I’ve found the one I love.

I can't wait for another date.

Dear Abby - I'm so glad I've just discovered your 'Original' offerings, among the so many snippers/with sharp scissors of late. *As I scroll through your presentations I've subscribed to you with pleasure. Please, when you have a moment, direct me towards one of your favorites; we all have them. I'm just a retired legal writer morphed into a self described 'Goof Writer' nothing more; not into contests or awards. But, I've noticed we write on similar topics - and this one of yours so caught my 'Heart' since it reminded me so much of my "Heartsy"...From my Generation to yours - - With my Respect - Jay, Jay Kantor, Chatsworth, California 'Senior' Vocal Author - Vocal Village Community -

I hope it's autobiographical and everything goes beautifully!
