As a babe so small

In was swaddled in comfort

Tended to with love

By Kelly Sikkema on Unsplash

Mom & Dad wrapped me

I was held close, warm, and tight

Wrapped in a cloth hug

By Kelly Sikkema on Unsplash

It would smell like Mom

Her scent and heartbeat would calm

It made me feel safe

By Matthew Osborn on Unsplash

It was a white cloth

Patterned with blue and yellow

And hints of red too

By Felipe Salgado on Unsplash

Whenever I slept

Fetally curled, toes to neck

Underneath the cloth

By Fé Ngô on Unsplash

I would feel secure

Less scared of my surroundings

From timid to bold

By Andrae Ricketts on Unsplash

I outgrew the cloth

Naps were not as comfortable

Blanky's now too small

By Daiga Ellaby on Unsplash

Blanky got smaller

As I was now a toddler

Mom thought of something

By Reece van der Merwe on Unsplash

Blanky was now changed

It was now two separate forms

Both would help with sleep

By Sarah Shull on Unsplash

Blanky was now two

I could still cuddle with both

Great Idea, Mom!

What was Blanky now?

A blanket and teddy bear

Perfect to play with

By Kelsey Todd on Unsplash

They were comfy toys

Scaring away the nightmares

Sleep came easily

By Barbara Verge on Unsplash

When I have children

I hope to give them such gifts

To make them feel safe

I loved reading this poem; so many of us have a special blanket still from our baby/childhood days! I loved the part about wanting to give the same sense of comfort to your own children one day. 😊 Great job on bringing the sense of comfort into words!
