if there's one thing that i learned back in art class

it's that when you bring different colors together that contrast

it can be messy but it also can be beautiful

with patience and determination to see beyond the usual

but the problem that i see throughout history

we try to erase race instead of thinking artistically

blame the different colors instead of taking responsibility

to pick up our own brush and paint the reality that we wish to see

see Martin Luther King (Jr.) had a dream

where white and black came together like cookies and cream

a complementary combination so sweet

if you try to separate the two they feel incomplete

so taste and see and let your taste buds testify

we're better together so don't believe the devil's lie

skin color's not a problem it's an opportunity

to say "no" to hate and "yes" to love and unity

inspirational
