BLACK...

By Kiana L. Johnson

By Kiana Johnson Published 5 years ago 1 min read

Black in meaning having dark skin, hair, and eyes

Just a human’s souls covering in a disguise

Like that of the black race among mankind

In which so many have tried to hide

Still some may see black as it appears to be; the color of one’s skin

Just a deep shade of darkness in its own state of being

But that’s as far as they look, not deep within

If they began to look deeper then they too might see

That black is far beyond what it appears to be

For I see black as being more than just a color

But as a vision of loveliness beneath a dark cover

I see black as the might it took those powerful voices to say

What is now know as the mighty spiritual

We shall Overcome Someday

I see black as the pure beauty of the night

And if you look even closer

The stars appear to be white

So if the sky could blend colors together so beautifully

And create a more than perfect scenery

Then why has this been such a problem between you and me?
