I taste: it is the honeyed smoothness of life.

You touch: it is the truculent grittiness of sandpaper.

I see: it is the gracious goodness of light.

You hear: it is the crackle and seering poke of dark.

We smell: it is oxymoronic caramel crisp sweet bitterness.

Bravo! This is truly sensational! Such great word choice in each line to craft quite an experience

  • Oooo, I learned a new word from you today, truculent! Loved your poem!

An amazing oxymoron of a sensory poem.

  • Great job 👍🏼… my favourite line is: “ We smell: it is oxymoronic caramel crisp sweet bitterness.”💙

Perspectival contingency melting into consensus. Another impressive, sensual poem!

I seem to recall a quote that the most sincere form of love is the love of food. And this visceral and delicious poem seems to bear that out. I do not recognize the dessert in the accompanying pic, but I definitely want it eat it! Well done, Rachel!

I love finding words I don’t know and truculent was one of them. Very well done on the poem (:

The duality of our sensory experiences is illustrated in a perfect manner through your beautiful poem. And the most important thing is that your work is reflecting, at the same time, and the duality of life.Stunning work!

The way you intertwine moments of joy and sorrow really resonates with the human experience.

Wow! Your diction in this is amazing, Rachel! "truculent grittiness of sandpaper" ( I love 'truculent' in this because the abrasiveness of sandpaper really can be seen as an 'aggressive defiance' along with the implications towards the story in the poem! ) "oxymoronic caramel crisp sweet bitterness" ( oxymoronic again serves a double meaning both to the taste of caramel and to the story! ) You are a master word smith, my friend!! (:
