Birdsong

it's all the little things that will pull us through

By BrenPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

i love it when the cars all stop

or are nowhere

near to hear at all

one less man made noise

polluting the everything

that makes up my auditory system

i love it when all i can hear

is the birds

Crimson Rosella's,

Sulphur Crested Cockatoos

and even the ever present Mynas'

as they screech about their daily business;

not as rowdy today cause it's a bit overcast

a fog or two may roll in off the mountain

or it may be the showers they predicted

yet they crow exploits of their latest mundane task

across the vast expanse of my neighbourhood

a Magpie warbles from not too far away

it's music to my ears

it would be nice to know

what sparks their song this day

as another summer closes

on this part of our lives

even in the quietest of moments

their song soothes softly

in the background

you can hear it if you listen…

a background twitter

a muted crescendo of a thousand beaks

just happy to be here now!

Sometimes I sit for hours and watch these radiant little rabble rousers. This piece is a beautiful homage to a beautiful class of beings, and a testament to the diversity of your talents as well.
