Birds should live to be free

Never lock them in a cage

Birds should live to be free

A bird should never be caged

God made them to be free

their wings are built for distance

their song is meant to be heard

The sky was drawn wide open

the trees were shaped for rest

the sun was made to greet them

the night to cradle their nests

A cage is made of sorrow

it steals the breath of flight

it silences the morning call

and breaks the joy of night

A bird is not for keeping

not for chains or idle hands

they carry in their feathers

the secrets of all lands

To watch them rise is holy

to see them cut through air

to hear them call at daybreak

is proof that God is there

A bird should never be caged

not clipped, not locked, not still

for freedom is their purpose

and freedom is God’s will

So true! It's sad to see what has happened to cages birds 😞
