Celebrating the grace and majesty of birds
A day is dedicated to our lovely feathered friends
Whose beautiful cheeps, chirps, warbles and songs
Greet us happily as we awaken each morn
Their vibrant colorful plumage, feathers and
Diversity in species, characteristics and grace
Keep us forever captivated, awed and inspired
Whether in flight, nesting, feeding or resting
Though sometimes we find them a tad annoying
Leaving us unwanted gifts in diverse places
While building their homes in secret nooks
Hidden somewhere in our treasured comfy rooftops
By doorways, in rafters and anywhere they please
Still we cherish natures beautiful gift of vibrant colorful birds
As they sing us songs of life and laughter, sun and happiness
And scatter their feathers everywhere as gifts to appease us
Thank you for adding grace, color and beauty to our world
Fly high beautiful birds, be free as the wind!!!!!!

National Birds Day 2024: History
National Birds Day has been observed in the United States since 2002. This date was picked because it is also the day of the annual Christmas Bird Count. In America, a national holiday is commemorated in which people join hands to learn more about the quality and condition of birds in the United States of America.
Many lives are endangered due to a variety of factors such as climate change, habitat loss, deforestation, and other life-threatening circumstances. People from throughout the country mark the day by attending various activities to raise awareness.

Patchwork dandelion bullet holes at 2am.
It's 2am and I am rudely awakened by the thump, thump of tiny angry feet. I glance upon the wall, expecting to see my collection of lovely, if creepy Babushka babies. I blinked three times to be sure, but the wall is bare of my lovely patchwork collection.

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.

So we have an actual National Birds Day! Sounds crazy, but kind of sweet.
The sparrows and blue tits that feed outside the living room window bring me so much joy. Birds are wildly underrated 😁

I never gave much thought as to how something with no hands or arms could make a circular nest so perfectly...and we give up so easily. "Thank you for adding grace, color and beauty to our world" yes!!
