Beyond The Door

Choose Life

By Earl W. PearlPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

I had a dream while wide awake

Unsure if it was real

I sensed a force I couldn’t shake

A wicked, eerie feel

There seems for some an open door

Tormented minds pass thru

Beside the door, there’s something more

This devil beckons you

Its presence shook me, to be fair

The dream is quite absurd

I walked toward that devil there

And this is what I heard

“Beyond this door the torment ends

I’m offering this ‘out’

By ending life, new life transcends

You’ll thank me then, no doubt”

A voice inside then spoke to me

“I love you, please think twice

To end it here, the tragedy

Will be the heavy price

My adversary lied to you

By what he didn’t say

That when this selfish act is thru

Your loved ones die each day”

The “out” I’m offered, I declined

I felt this sweet release

That inner voice inside my mind

It left an inner peace

I didn’t tell this world goodbye

My life I wouldn’t give

I reasoned if we’re born to die

I’ll do it while I live
