Beware the unopened door

Poem and intro to a future story, kind of!

Beware the unopened door

The door to anywhere

everywhere and nowhere

at all

The door that leads

to paradise

nightmares, dreams

and the never-ending

abyss of nothingness

The door that keeps you in,

and let's something out

The door to salvation

or damnation

to freedom

or slavedom

The door to everything

you've

ever wanted

but

never needed

The door to undiscovered mysteries

and unsolved puzzles

Where the wicked play chess

with pawns of the righteous

Where a day is as a millenia

and a millenia a day

Where your breath

might be your last

Where old lives end

and new ones begin

Where secrets are told

and regrets are relived

The door

to punishment for some

and rewards for others

It may not look like much

from the outside

A little tattered and a little torn

But, the unopened door

the one you recognise

but haven't seen before

will take you...somewhere

but

just where that somewhere

is or was, I'm not quite sure

Just step through

if you dare.

Author's Notes: Dark poem that also acts as a kind of intro to a new story/book that I will be working on when NanoSlamoMyheadoOnthetablo is over! that is the author's notes I had written a couple of weeks ago. The story/book that relates to this poem is something I will be working on in the near future.

Hope you enjoyed the taster intro thing.

As long as the door remains closed, the possibilities remain endless. The most fearsome thing about the unopened door is that, should we decide to open it, whatever it opens upon becomes our commitment. All other possibilities disappear.

Oooh a bit gothic. I like. Sounds good but an intriguing poem in itself!

  • Oooo, I can't wait to read that story! It's like so mysterious and mystical!

Great poem and I am intrigued! I also love your NaNo reference! Thanks for the chuckle on that!

What a great concept, an all inclusive door, or nothing. Well done

This is fantastic, buddy. This right here "Where the wicked play chess with pawns of the righteous." I absolutely love it. (Quick edit, you're missing a letter on the second line.)
