Beware contentment

Apathy and fear breed resentment

of the wrong target and then turns to entrenchment

of feeling powerless and cowardice rears its ugly head and interment of the soul begins.

As kids we’re free of choice paralysis

We take what’s given without analysis

Consent is really just analogous to fairy tales.

Out of sight out of mind. A child is just resigned to the fact he’s undermined

constantly. No choice is ever sound

the rock he just found was knocked from his hands and called dirt he can’t stand!

Now the child grew

An adult with wit so shrewd

Worked all his life to realise life was just cruel!

Illusion of choice and power seeped into life and devoured individualism like its cancer

Politicians set worlds on fire.

They hide behind and cower, while people fend and scour for a living.

The wealthy immune to life

The powerful immune to strife

The people immune to nice living. Constantly walking on a knife’s edge

The pledge of safety and prosperity they voted for flowing in the wind.

Don’t forget: You have the power to uphold them to their sins.

Author's note: not sure if this is the right format for the public announcement challenge (came out more like a speech), but I just wanted to write and this is what came out so I'm gonna leave it here and see what happens.

I think it fits. Right format or not, though, this is an empowering message that we need to hear. Well done, Mo!
