"BETTY BLUE THE OLD LADY WHO LIVED IN A SHOE"
"BETTY HAD TOO MANY SHOES"
This poem, lyrical song was written on a whim as I observed my black boots with spider web artwork just sitting in my closet. Then I remembered nursery rhymes from my childhood. I chose to create a story about an old lady who lived in a shoe house, who had too many shoes. Nursery rhymes had deeper meanings than was written in children's books. Do you think there is a hidden meaning in my creation?
Another thing to remember is I authored this about no one. This is not about me. I use I at times, but it was never all about me or myself. Since I am now 75 years old. I have met many characters that have come into my life and retreated out of my life.
My stories are not all about me. As an old lady if I can share experiences of my 75 years on Earth. I have at least ten more years to rock n' roll, and dance a little, and play a tune!

"BETTY BLUE
THE OLD LADY WHO LIVED IN A SHOE"
I once knew an old lady
That lived in a shoe.
This was a nursery rhyme
From another time.
The old woman had so many shoes
She did not know what to do.
She invited the neighbors into her home,
Then she gave the shoe to the neighbor who was alone.
No one cared as she sat in her room
Playing on zoom.
The tears flowed each day.
Then she stood up to say,
No way, not today.
She jumps up,
To scream,
Not today, buttercup.
So, it seems,
She is now the new one is old lady living in a shoe,
To boot another team,
Of boots on the ground,
To sound an alarm,
To swarm,
Around town,
With glee,
As we see,
The neighbors as happy as can be,
And the former old lady
Who lived in the shoe
Is fancy free as can be,
To boot a shoe,
To shoe a boot,
Of glee.
Today I visited the new old lady in the shoe.
Betty Blue
Will love you.
Love all
As the light radiates throughout the shoe,
To boot the shoe,
For Betty Blue
The new old lady living in a shoe,
Of boots and flats,
Just like that,
I wear a boot,
From Betty Blue,
Two boots, dark black,
With spider webs that wrap
Around the boot as I walk out of the house
Just like that.
It’s a tit for tat rap.
So, hug Betty Blue,
To say I love you
Betty Blue.
You look cute,
For an old lady
To boot
Me a shoe,
To boot,
Me a house of love & joy
Not coy.
Not of betrayal & hate
But love Ms. Betty Blue as of late,
Not to hate,
But to love
All,
Respect,
Love,
Freedom.
I once knew an old lady
That lived in a shoe.
This was a nursery rhyme
From another time.

The old woman had so many shoes,
She did not know what to do.
She invited the neighbors into her home,
Then she gave the shoe to the neighbor who was alone.
No one cared as she sat in her Zoom,
Playing on zoom.
I wear a boot,
From betty blue,
Two boots, dark black,
With spider webs that wrap
Around the boot as I walk out of the house
Just like that.
It’s a tit for tat rap.
So, Hug betty blue.
To say I love you
Betty Blue.
You look cute,
For an old lady
To boot
Me a shoe,
To boot,
Me a house of love & joy
Not coy.

Why was I smiling and sad at the same time. You did a great take in an old nursery rhyme.
A creative piece of writing.
I like your version of this Nursery Rhyme. Shoes are better than kids
This poem evokes a sense of sweet sadness. The imagery and reference to the original nursery rhyme lend it something of beauty and resonance. I shared! —S.S.
