Better than one.

A poem for those who are apart.

Two homes are better than one.

Two countries.

Two sets of keys.

You’ve only got half of me.

Between us,

It’s more than the sea.

Two homes are better than one.

It’s certainly better than none.

Exotic.

Exciting.

Exhilarating.

Ex…

pensive.

Exhausting.

I’m not complaining.

Never.

It’s just…

At least…

Of course…

It could be worse.

Look how far you’ve come.

We haven’t arrived.

We’re still so behind.

I’m not complaining.

Never.

It’s just…

Two homes are an echo of one.

Desperate to not be alone.

It’s never the same on the phone.

The future is always unknown.

But tomorrow,

I have to go home.

Have you tried?

Did you know?

I have a friend…

You could go…

Yes.

I’m not sure.

It’s not the same.

No.

I’m not complaining.

Never.

It’s just…

Two homes are a fraction of one.

Building twice but we only live half.

Alone, I can still hear you laugh.

You tell me I’m just being daft.

But you feel the time,

And I feel the space.

The mountain we still have to face.

Two homes are better than one.

But without you it isn't a home.

Some days it's impossible.

So we count the uncountable.

Until our two homes,

Are one.
