Better Than Mine

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished about 15 hours ago 1 min read

Verse 1

I spent years drawin’ maps on napkins,

Tryin’ to tell the wind where to blow.

Thought I had the whole road figured,

Every mile, every turn, every goal.

But life’s got a way of humblin’ you,

When the ground shifts under your feet.

And every time my plans fell through,

Something wiser carried me.

Chorus

I know God’s plans are better than mine,

He sees the mountains I can’t climb,

He knows the tears before they fall,

And the reason behind it all.

So I’ll lay down this stubborn heart tonight,

And trust the One who holds my life.

I know God’s plans are better than mine.

Verse 2

I’ve prayed for doors that stayed locked tight,

And cried over ones that swung wide.

I’ve begged for things that would’ve broken me,

If He’d let ‘em in my life.

But grace don’t always look like sunshine,

Sometimes it’s a storm that clears the way.

And every “no” I didn’t understand

Turned into mercy in its own strange way.

Chorus

I know God’s plans are better than mine,

He sees the mountains I can’t climb,

He knows the tears before they fall,

And the reason behind it all.

So I’ll lay down this stubborn heart tonight,

And trust the One who holds my life.

I know God’s plans are better than mine.

Bridge

Maybe someday I’ll look back and see

Every detour was a gift to me.

Every heartbreak, every closed-off door

Was leadin’ me to something more.

Final Chorus

I know God’s plans are better than mine,

He sees the mountains I can’t climb,

He knows the tears before they fall,

And the reason behind it all.

So I’ll lift up my hands to the sky,

And thank Him for the things He denied.

I know God’s plans are better than mine.
