betrayal I

a poem

they put me under a firing squad and started shooting

their bullets were blank

because they didn’t have enough ammunition

to get rid of an innocent defenceless person

my vision went blurry, I couldn’t see them

insulting faces dissolved in the cold, loud, abrasive air

from ignorance and narrow-mindedness

the only cause of blood curdled in my veins

you were one of them –

a friend stabbing me in the back

how did it happen?

I trusted you with all my heart

and now you stand wholly on the other side

have others told you all gloomy

far-fetched theories about me?

they are all not true, yet you believed them

closing the main door in front of me

even though I tried to keep them open every time

they all closed with one loud bang

and then they decided that each of their company

they must rule or they will hurt me

just like you did

but it’s not the same when you were my whole life in there
