Beneath the smile

"grief and misery"

Oh, I do look joyful.

Because of what I am wearing.

I am wearing something on my face.

I am wearing a lovely smile.

However,

It is not true or genuine.

My genuine smile faded long ago.

It died the day my loved ones lost their lives.

I felt hollow.

All of my happiness was gone.

My true smile was buried along with them.

The smile I display today

It stems from my strong heart.

The heart that allows me to hide my tears.

The same heart that enables me to think and act

The heart that allows me to conceal the facts of my life

The truth is that I'm caught in grief.

I'm imprisoned in the web of misery.

Nonetheless

Everything is buried beneath the smile.

The smile I am wearing.
