believe

(me)

By Sara Published 2 years ago 1 min read

i hate you

for making me

believe

for a minute

that i could ever

be loved.

you breathed

faith

into my heretical heart

gone astray

from the ways of

feeling

made me think

i could sleep

with my eyes closed

again.

turns out

it is a godless world

and you are a liar.

i burned my fingers

that ran across

your lips

collected the tears

you made me

cry

in kegs

of gun powder.

i kissed you

like my savior -

worshipped you

at dawn

offered my soul

in altruism.

i gave my life

to a religion

of false hope

and illusion

but i burned

the Bible

of your promises

in the flames

of my tormented soul.
