my

(ground)

Top Story - December 2023

you should

have left me

on the ground

where i was

because after

you carried me

in your arms

and showed me

the sky

nothing was

ever good enough.

you pointed to

the stars

said our names

were written in them

but the sun exploded

across the horizon

and all that remains

is the dream dust

i inhale

through my nose

and the empty sky

i look for you in.

i tried to tell

the wind

that i missed you

but it blew my words

away

and i stand

breathless, barefoot

on the ground

that i never hated

before you came.

but you did.

This is brilliant!! Every line was so well written and emotional and raw!!

  • The wind blew your words away. That felt relatable. Loved your poem!

So gracefully sad and tragic, I felt this inside.
