Behind Dark Sunglasses

Keep Moving

Hold back, eat the feelings, cry on walks behind dark sunglasses.

Keep moving, take pictures of beautiful things.

Distract, disconnect, disassociate, escape.

Remission for now, my stage four melanoma. They say it will be back.

Eat well, exercise, limit stress. lol! No time for that now.

Ignore it, deny the reality, there’s work to be done.

A caregiver must be strong, cheerful, endlessly helpful.

Learn, coach, console, comfort.

Research, reassure, respect.

Protect, push, pull, prepare.

Cook, clean, care, steralize.

Above all fight the desire to lash out at those who refuse to share responsibility.

What good would it do? Temporary relief at best. Bridges burnt most likely.

Don’t scream, keep smiling, keep posting positive memes!
