Before the Flood

A Sonnet

Entwined in love my corded belly sways,

in liquid fields from breath filled shores above.

Where muffled voices mumble of past days,

as mine no further started hold the flood.

*

In sleep we meet together eye to eye,

our salted iris shielded from the light.

Two angels in unconscious waters fly,

with jigsaw hearts as one into the night.

*

Your warming hands alleviate my fear

as loosening limbs untangle slowly now.

Your pulsing heart the solo puppeteer,

my queen of string who wears the mother crown.

*

Until I part this womb to earthly trials,

we live as one, two souls a love combined.
