Becoming

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

[Verse]

What am I to do with these wings on my arms

White with gold tips, they feel so strong

Do I fold them behind me as I soar through the sky

Toward the portal that beckons my flight?

[Chorus]

Golden light spills as my past fades away

But a piece of it lingers and chooses to stay

I carry it forward like a scar on my soul

Through the endless unknown I become whole

[Verse 2]

The wind it howls but it sounds like a song

Pushing me forward where I know I belong

The portal’s edge is a shimmering thread

A future unwritten where nothing’s been said

[Chorus]

Golden light spills as my past fades away

But a piece of it lingers and chooses to stay

I carry it forward like a scar on my soul

Through the endless unknown I become whole

[Bridge]

I’ll never truly leave though I fly so far

The past is my anchor the night’s guiding star

Each beat of these wings a chapter untold

With tips dipped in sunlight they shimmer in gold

[Chorus]

Golden light spills as my past fades away

But a piece of it lingers and chooses to stay

I carry it forward like a scar on my soul

Through the endless unknown I become whole
