Beauty for Ashes

Trade them in.

By stephanie riveraPublished 8 years ago 1 min read

Drills of insecurities has its way of making tunnels in your heart

making distrust the hole that allows truth to slip through so easily

Burning down pillars of wholeness allowing ashes to fill our minds and lungs choking dreams and life slowly

Offense digging up simplicities like love and trust that seem to be confined to our bodies protecting what seems like the very source of life like rib cages

And none of us are exempt.

Harsh realities chain us to chambers making us callous to the point where we no longer feel

Bruised egos making black and blue memories embedded in our minds

Let's lock them bolt and chains allowing fear to inhabit our every action

Unable to escape the death breaded through hurt

We clench these ashes tightly

Approach a throne of grace who's desire is to inhabit every ounce of disgrace that we may face

Place it

In the hands of eternity

Have you heard of Him?

The one who exchanges beauty for ashes

The one who takes your hollow body of nothingness and breathes into these dead bones

Watch them live

My tears were silent prayers that only He can interpret into a beautiful symphony

Mourning turned into a new morning

Joy. Instantaneous freedom running through my body like blood through my veins

My thirst quenched as living waters dropped from letters that were written just for me

A hollowed chest filled with a beating heart like the drum of a war cry

Can you hear it

See no longer has hurt demolished my worth

A second with my creator and my ashes were turned into diamonds

Converting my pain and the worse me into precious gems that will last forever

My heart fully revived singing a song of freedom

My face no longer covered by ashes of shame

But true healing found in the one who saw gold in a minefield

Truly truly. I am beauty from ashes.
