The hilltop view amazing
Emerald green fields for miles
Copses of trees and stonewalls
Repeated across the isles .
*
Blue sky above me
Whispering winds breeze by
Subtle majesty of heaven
On earth before me lies.
*
Trickling streams from the summit
Flow together in crystal clarity
Down below me in the valley
Bringing life from their capillaries .
*
Onwards into a lough
Wild waters deep and free
A haven for beautiful wildlife
With no intervention from me .
*
The wild places across our lands
Are best observed from a remove
So they can get on with the business
Of living life, beautiful and free .
*
The more wild space we leave
With no meaningful encroachment, left free
The more our lands will thrive
For our children’s children to see.
