When I have my daughter she’ll know
She won’t contemplate
Or be confused
She won’t question
Or fear she’ll lose
She’ll know
That she’s beautiful like a clear sky on a sunny day
Prayed for after nights and days of monsoons
And hurricanes
She’ll know that her worth is more than rain after a drought
And a meal after a long day of work
She will cause heads to turns
And eyes to wonder
She won’t feel any remorse for her lively curls or her voice of thunder
She’ll understand her value
Insecurities will seem like the sun rising west and setting East
And she’ll never forget
That her beauty is not to be kept inside
Or shy from those who don’t empathize
She’ll believe she’s so beautiful that she shines through others
That her smile creates happiness
She’ll know that she’s fabulous
She’ll be the beauty that helps bring change
The beauty that takes pain away
She’ll know peace
And speak harmony
She’ll be the butterflies stained in our memories
She won’t be confused about who she should be
She’ll know everything she does will set her up for who she wants to be
My daughter will be beautiful
No one will convince her otherwise
Her beauty will be on the outside and the inside
She won’t be made to feel small
Or threatened by others looks
She’ll understand her emotions
Accept them
And work on herself from within
She’ll never doubt her beauty
She’ll know she’s worth everything
My daughter will not be confused
Or have fear that she’ll lose
My daughter will be beautiful
And she’ll have nothing to prove
