Bearing Naked Souls
A Poem
Beginning, we bare our naked souls
in rather public forum,
in hopes to catch a common glance--
in hopes to once again be, "whole".
Progress is commonality;
reciprocated love.
In turn we love the us we show--
ignoring abnormality.
In time we come down off the high;
awake in sudden love.
Withdrawing back into ourselves,
we start to stall and go awry.
Disappointment will oft cajole
belief in newfound love.
But now, in private; secretly,
again, we bare our naked souls.
Commentary
I wrote this 4 years ago and included this snippet of an explanation:
"It is my firm belief that every relationship ends because we do not bare our souls to each other in love and understanding of all of our faults."

Congratulations on your Top Story! So sorry, I don't know how I missed this one. This poem was so beautifully written with so much truth in it. I'm a firm believer that communication is very important in a relationship and key to solving any issue. Your poem also portrays how we tend to change from the beginning to the end of the relationship. While change is good, some things should not change for the worse. I loved your poem so much! 💖
