Be Like a German Shepherd
Be like a German Shepherd
A sentinel carved from loyalty,
With eyes like twin lanterns
glowing in the fog of uncertainty,
Always watching, always waiting,
a compass of silent certainty.
Be the shadow that never falters,
the heartbeat of a home,
A storm held in discipline,
with thunder locked in bone.
Like a lion cloaked in humility,
walk proud but never loud,
Let your soul speak in silence,
more thunderous than a crowd.
Stand guard at the gates of purpose
your mission, your sacred ground.
Be the blade that cuts through chaos,
but never wounds without a sound.
Let your loyalty be a lighthouse,
anchored deep in stormy seas,
And your courage, a wildfire
that dances through the trees.
Don’t bark for hollow praises,
nor chase the echo of applause,
Let integrity be your collar,
and truth your only cause.
Run not for fleeting pleasures,
but for the scent of destiny
Chase dreams like stars across the sky,
untamed and endlessly.
Fierce, but never cruel
let your strength wear velvet gloves,
Kind, yet never crumbling,
like iron beneath a dove’s.
When fear comes prowling softly,
bare your teeth in calm defiance,
For even wolves retreat
before a Shepherd’s quiet science.
Be the voice when silence trembles,
but a ghost when ego speaks,
Be the armor for the weary,
and the light the lost ones seek.
Guard what you believe in
like a fortress guards its flame,
And carry every scar with pride
each one whispers your name.
So rise each day with fire in your lungs
and honor in your stride,
Be the shepherd of your fate,
with the universe as your guide.
The world is full of noise and chaos,
of masks and shallow hue
But be like a German Shepherd…
For the world is starved for true.

This poem paints a powerful picture of an ideal character. It makes me think about how we can all strive to be more like that German Shepherd - loyal, brave, and true. I wonder how we can apply these qualities in our daily lives. Do you think it's easier to be like this in certain situations or relationships? And how can we stay true to ourselves when faced with so much noise and chaos around us?
