Battles Rage and Sunny Serenity

Battles are raging inside of me.

Though the white flags of peace and surrender fly,

the army marches toward my borders.

Ballistae hurl boulders and obliterate my heart.

I am turned into dust.

Though the rain falls, I am not refreshed.

I am mingled with the dirt of the earth

and become the mud on men’s shoes.

Storms bring their fury and carry me away to stormy seas

where the tidal waves mercilessly pulverize me as I slowly drown.

I am weak and weary from fighting frantically to swim to safety.

My body fades from exhaustion and I drift to a perfect comatose.

Serenity dances before me

like Celts in a joyous festival.

Fragrances and floral beauties surrounded me

like a multitude of gentle honey bees.

I am led to pastures filled with quiet waters.

I rest in the lush grass.

As the warmth of the sun kisses my skin,

I feel my burdens leaving.

The stones of pain and expectations leave my body.

My soul unwinds as if I had a massage.

My entire being is warmed

as if I just drank cider after a long, cold day.

I suddenly awake and realize I never left home.

I looked out the window,

but there was no war.

My nightmare had passed, I realized.

I turned and saw a note by my bed saying “You are victorious.”

I smiled as I read my White Rider’s handwriting.

I then put on my coat of confidence,

walked out my door, ready to slash any attack with my sword.
