Darkness

My Internal Storm to My Paradise

Darkness surrounds me.

It lurks around every corner,

and stays hidden in the shadows.

Like a looming cloud of doom,

my darkness broods fear.

My darkness has trained me well,

every encounter is a potential threat

to my entire being and my essence.

Storms rage, howling winds knock everything down,

hail overflows the ground,

and lighting insinuates every living thing.

Darkness is my mirror, reminding me of my past.

It plays a mirage of my future,

hypnotizing me to play out my future like a robot.

I silently scream, hoping to be rescued.

Even my veins pray for a vampire,

to be sucked dry of suffering.

Then brilliant light

surrounds me and brings such peace.

I can faintly hear a voice, a voice calling me

to come out of my dungeon

and walk along gardens

filled with sweetly perfumed flowers.

I sense a hand, I squeeze it emphatically.

I leap and find myself in strong arms.

My soul finds rest and I embrace

the One who was beaten.

Paradise is now my home.

Here I shall remain.
