Battle of Life and Death

My name is Life

I’m so full of light

I give you experiences

And smiles so bright

My name is is death

I’m hopeless and dark

I rip up your dreams

Put out your spark

Life gives you lemons

So you can make lemonade

It gives you the sunrise

On a hot summer day

Death gives you one thing

It decides your fate

They put flowers on your grave

Next to your permanent date.

Life isn’t always beautiful

There will be days of gloom

Like the tulips in spring

It takes patience to bloom

Death isn’t always sad

It can take away pain

We take hope in the fact

We may see them again

A baby cries out in the night

A husband holds his dear wife

There are tears of joy and sorrow

As she breathes her last breath of life

The battle continues….
