Barriers

Love, life, happiness, all a barrier

By Graveyard Shift FMPublished 6 years ago 3 min read
Inspiration.

Barriers.

Barriers could be anywhere and be anything.

A wall, a door, a screen.

A barrier that is such a burden to the soul that our only purpose is to cross it.

Get over it.

We scream, punch, kick at it only for our shouts to be drowned by its enormous presence.

Our knuckles swelling to the point where blood trickles down the barrier, not a dent made.

Like a wild caged animal wanting to escape, wanting to be free, but not being able to.

We fight it, try to ignore the presence of what is front of us, only to fail.

Barriers are everywhere, barriers are life.

Some barriers we do overcome, we demolish them and the pain that is tagged along.

Some barriers are victorious, they prevent us from being free, they win.

Love is a barrier when failed.

Or even when not, a barrier that anchors you to a place you are dying to escape.

Not allowing you to leave, you are stuck, there is no way around it.

A barrier that prevents us from loving again.

A barrier that prevents us from moving on.

A barrier that will win regardless if you let it be.

It will drive you mad.

The thoughts won’t ever come to a stop being caged in your head.

It will bring sadness.

Sadness that is random and with a great load of pain.

Sadness that will draw a huge cloud of what used to be your ray of happiness, of light.

You must win the battle.

You must win the game of love, destroy the barrier that is formed in front of you.

Remove the clouds, and at last your ray of light will be back.

How do we win?

Love has claimed many victories against me, building many barriers.

Barriers that to this day are still a challenge to bring down.

Let me guide you, not as an expert, but as a victim.

It all starts with that person, the person that has an effect like no other.

When you meet a person, a person that unlike your last encounters, is different in a way.

Encounters that form a smile when they happen.

Encounters that play over and over in your head as memories.

The closer and closer you get, the happier and happier.

The late night thoughts, messages, talks on the phone.

Everything and anything is fun, happiness, a dream come true.

Then my friend, and only then, have you lost the game of love.

Game over.

A new barrier starts to rise.

When love happens to come to an end, as it will, it is then the dream becomes a nightmare.

A nightmare you wish to wake up from, forget about it, never leave it again.

The barrier starts to form, as time goes by, the bricks are laid one by one.

Your world dear friend is coming to an end, crashing down, disappearing between the rubbish.

I warned you, love is a defeat, now we are both here, stuck, dealing with pain.

A barrier between that person you once loved, a person you once held, a person you shared the most intimate moments with.

That is the worst of barriers,

A barrier that prevents you from talking, hugging, kissing them.

A barrier that does not allow you to defend them from people that approach them.

Wanting to shout at them to back off, and protect that person you are fond of.

No, you are to see it happen.

Sadistic in a way.

Sitting you down, forcing you to watch as she is taken away, and you are here with me, watching in pain behind the barrier.

I share the pain with you.

I am staring at a barrier right now, a barrier you are soon to meet.

We both lose the game of love.

It is game over.

I wish you luck.

May you cross that barrier.

Love.
