Back to the grind
Adjusting to the change from a high-energy event and transitioning back to everyday life.
The big celebration is now over
Decorations and props have been taken down
Both the podium and parking lot are empty
Trash is strewn all over the ground
The high-energy atmosphere is dropping
Silent attendees are walking away
Loud chatter and excitement have been replaced
Now no one has anything to say
No more comradery, or being on one accord
It seems everyone has lost their fight
The rainbow has been hidden behind a cloud
Cinderella flees because it is midnight
Each person heads to their personal corner
In their own little spot in the world
From a moment of promise and hope
Back to haters, they have been hurled
The beautiful gown is changed to rags
Poof the gold carriage is gone
Again it's the pumpkin it always was
Unity dissipated each attendee feels alone
Returned to sit among the cinders
Waiting for Prince Charming
Nothing has really changed
It's all so alarming
We were going to conquer the world
Now the sentiment has faded
Promise and hope replaced
By dreams that have been jaded
Not everyone believes in the cause
Truth and reality creep into the mind
Ignorance and intolerance await
It's time to go back to the grind
