Your face is so soft, lit here by the moon;
No dusk-dark greys to dull your glow.
Big blue eyes, that hold a gaze so soft and pure,
A look full of awe.
Then I spy a tiny sole, with tiny toes
As you kick and push your foot free.
And a tiny fist with a firm, fast grip
Is lost in my palm.
No words, just a soft half-cry to tell me
You need me, or want me: my time, my love.
It’s all I need to wake me, make me
Rise and run to your side.
