Baby birds and morning tea

My day begins...

By Antoni De'LeonPublished about a year ago 1 min read

a new day yawns awake lazily

and...

like clockwork they appear, silently...

owning the same spot every morning

perched atop yonder rooftop

my little friends the baby birds

how quietly they sit, observing...

awaiting the rising of the sun

i watch them watch the far horizon

so do the butterflies flitting

as they hover over daylight's

newly washed blooms

morning dewdrops poise as if

they too waited for the ambient dance of sunlit skies

so they may gently fall fully formed

in prismatic watery splendor, to cool the earth

i forget to sip my tea as it grows tepid

me, lost in silent reverie and reverence of birds and morn

in tandem, as if in a secret message shared

both little fledglings rise and flee my scrutiny

i hear a distant mother's birdsong

perhaps calling her children back home to the nest

i hear the world slowly awakening...

bye, bye for today little baby birds

IT IS TIME TO MEET THE NEW DAY!

What a delightful title, such a pleasant surprise for a morning reverie.

I love the title ‘ baby birds and morning tea’ It puts you in such a good headspace when you watch the birds and how they interact with the morning. I love how we can feel how truly centred and grounded you are through this poem, I love the colourful words you use to bring the imagery about in our minds. I love the pace the flow and how it’s like a sweet dance performed before our eyes. You’re truly talented, it is like you give yourself as a vessel to the inspiration around you.
