Avoidance>Innocence

A Poem

By Sara WilsonPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

You never misunderstood by chance

You ignored my words to make them small

If you faced the truth I carry

You'd see yourself wrapped in it all

❌❌❌

You act confused. You play the part

Pretend you don't know what I mean

Its avoidance dressed as innocence

A mask to keep your conscience clean

❌❌❌

You don't care about the pain or tears

or the boundaries I try to keep

You ignore it all to spare your pride

and leave me to cry myself to sleep

❌❌❌

It's not a lack of understanding

It's the way you choose to turn away

You play the victim. Dodge the blame

and I'm the one who has to pay

❌❌❌

So, don't tell me you didn't know

Your words were never pure defense

You choose to twist. To hide. To run.

Avoidance dressed as innocence.

Your words convey raw, honesty and pain making the reader feel every line.

Ugh, the fake behavior hiding behind a mask, and the gaslighting...this held so much emotion. Wonderfully penned :)

  • That is classic narcissist behaviour. Loved your poem

  • I like how you take control of the situation. Very powerful.
