Aves Dies

A Poem

By Devin MitchellPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

Raindrops fell

As the road

Became

A muddy river,

I waited on the porch

For you to stop by

In your Daddy's old Nova

To hold you close,

To hear you say:

"I recall last December

I received a note from my father

I gambled my heart away

I pawned off everything

Even your mother's wedding ring."

The only call I made

And ear

I could sob to was

You

Seasons changed

Blades of shadows

Appeared

I waited on the porch

For you to stop by

In your old sun dress

To hold you close,

To hear you say:

I love you.
