How Things Change

Clear blue skies shine brightly.

Shadows hit buildings differently.

Winds chill slightly with each breeze.

Hot apple cider warms the body.

Animals rush around, preparing for the ice and snow.

Soft sweaters and fuzzy hats touch sun-kissed skin and hair.

High-pitched bells rattle the air.

Once dormant buses now haul children from place to place.

Pumpkins and squash pepper the fronts of porches.

Red, orange, and yellow leaves litter lawns, sidewalks, and roads.

Twigs and sticks snap underneath footsteps.

Spicy chai tea wakes the tastebuds.

Cooked honey-glazed ham is served at the dinner table.

Friends and families gather, thankful to share in these changes.
