Atlas

I see you

Carrying the totality of your burden

I have something to say to you, Atlas

You who have been holding this together

You who goes unrecognized

I see you in your unwavering strength

you who are a pillar, a cornerstone to all around you

I see you also in your sadness

The burden you bear grows heavier

and heavier

I see you

Alone, angry, and heartbroken

With the universe on your shoulders you gasp for breath and beg for release

yet you do not falter

you grasp and gasp and wheeze, squeezing every last ounce of strength

to hold your world up

I see you, Atlas

I know what it is to hold it all on your shoulders

The crushing weight of everything important to you

The need to right every wrong

The need to protect the good things

The hot rage at those who selfishly take and take, while doing nothing to ease the burden

The hopelessness as those who did nothing wrong struggle to find a foundation on a choppy sea

I see you, Atlas

I am you

and we will carry this burden together

and things will get better

through the efforts we make today
