At Last

New horizons have dawned

Where to?

Do I have what it takes?

The courage

2 yrs of enduring

Now I see clearly

The way forward and home

Waiting at the station

A ticket to ride

No destination

No past

No Identity

Only the promise and future of a new life at last

The clothes on my back

The wind in my hair

The sunglasses to hide the shiner of the year

The last straw has been broken

A life that was

Is no more

The day has arrived

New Horizons have dawned

I take my seat

The open road sings

An eagle swoops low

A sign that everything new begins again.

Today I feel excited, or is it fear?

I can't tell

They are, after all, the same thing.

It's just the filter you run them through that zings

From this moment forward, my filter is cleaned

It's set to excitement, joy, happiness

Let my new life begin

My new horizons will be gentle and warm
